Well, it’s been a few days since Mr. Jobs passed away and I still think about all the contributions this man has made. I’ve read blogs and various posts on Twitter and Facebook talking about the impact Mr. Jobs had on the world around us. I’ve heard Mr. Jobs called genius, innovator and “wiz” to name a few
but one name that I can think to call him is “angel”, but let me tell you why.

On our Facebook page, I’ve posted a number of stories over the last year or so that talk about the benefit of having an iPad for an autistic child, as it provides a voice to many of these kids. We’ve read stories where the iPad or the iPod Touch provided amazing benefits to the extent that many organizations are finding ways to donate these devices to these kids. They are devices that really help to make a connection and it illustrates the genius that went into the planning of these great instruments. More than just giving a voice, it helps a child in teaching the way they need to be taught. As an example, our son Kian struggled with identifying the states of our country, however one app on his iPad helped him close the gap of learning, helped in finding his way across the map. This app gave Kian a tool that made learning fun and interesting. Did Steve Jobs create this app, no; however, what Steve Jobs did was provide the canvas for creativity. He created the vision for developers to find a way to integrate a teaching tool with the technology. Fortunately, there are thousands of apps available that help aide in these teaching opportunities and make it an extremely beneficial tool.
That said, I have great admiration for Mr. Jobs and his vision. Not only do I admire Mr. Jobs, I also greatly appreciate what he has done for our world. His visions have enabled our world to grow closer and connect in a way that we only thought was available in science fiction. If you think back 10 years, the connection was only a pipedream. Now, this is a reality. Mr. Jobs made this possible through his energy and compassion and his vision to make the world better for each of us. Mr. Jobs has been quoted as saying, “We take no credit for this, and that’s not our intention” when referring to how the iPad
has helped special needs kids, but as a parent of a special needs child, I say, thank you Mr. Jobs. You are icon, a visionary, a genius and an angel. I thank you for your ingenuity, for your vision and for your passion to connect our world. Your contribution to our society will never be forgotten.
