Autism Across America:
Stories of Love, Hope and Healing
Families of Autism and Asperger’s Standing Together (F.A.A.S.T.) was founded on the tenants of “supporting families of autism through compassion, time and energy“. Our goal has been to create awareness for autism, seek acceptance for those on the spectrum, and reach people in a way that creates compassion throughout our communities for not only those on the spectrum, but families who often struggle in silence. We have worked hard to do our part to raise awareness and with the help of each of you we’ve been able to make an impact, but it’s time we take that a step further. We need your help with a project we’re going call:
Autism Across America
Stories of Love, Hope and Healing
Here’s how this project is going to work and where we need your help:
Each of us have a story: our story about autism including the struggles, the pain, the fear we feel. Our stories are often what brings us together because we can relate to each other’s story, we have compassion for others because we understand the struggles others are going in and often reading someone else’s story helps us to put into perspective our current struggles and find the strength to continue to press forward, as hard as that might be. The fact is, our story is what often gives us strength.
Our hope is to share those stories, to reach out to those moms and dads who are struggling; struggling to face the next day, struggling to make our budgets fit the growing needs of our children; struggling to help our loved one find the acceptance we know they need and deserve. We need a place where those who don’t live the daily life of the autism family can come to and learn about the challenges we face, but also the monumental wins for our children. We want to create that place, but how do we do this?
Autism Across America is going to be a two part project, where you come in is in phase one (1):
Tell me your story! Below is a form you can use to tell your story. Tell us your struggles and tell me your wins, but most of all, tell us about the love for your child, your hopes and dreams for him/her and the message you want to send to the mom and dad who is reading your story. Tell us about those who have been important in your life of autism, those who have helped make a difference for your child, your family. Simply, tell us your story! Our goal is to have at minimum five (5) stories from each and every state in America, five (5) individual stories from each state that brings the awareness to each of your communities
Phase two (2) of Autism Across America is to launch the project on a new website we will design to share your stories. This website will be a place to send the moms and dads who are struggling to understand their struggles and find someone to relate to. It will be the open door they often need just to understand, they are not alone. This will be a place to find comfort, to find peace and most of all, find the hope they need to continue moving forward.
Please help us get this project off the ground and hopefully make a difference in lives all across America!
